It's not that easy to play piano at church. There are many things totally teach a short time and you have to face that. There may be instances where you will be asked to play along with singers on some songs you've never heard or tried to play before. They may expect a lot from you to make you play at a certain level or skill that you have not reached yet. You will undergo many stress especially if you're only one step ahead. The following tips can be very useful to piano players or beginning of the Christian gospel.
Piano playing requires as much knowledge as you can get and we need to know what you do as a beginner or even an expert pianist. It will be difficult to play a song you've never heard before. You may be able to key in something that sounds just like that but if you have no idea what category music that you are fit to play, then you limit yourself to do these things. There is more to this and you have yourself to discover what will make you play freely in and out of these limits. If you're interested in learning to play Christian songs, then you should go hear any Christian or Hill songs you can find Amy Grant, Israel Houghton, Michael W. Smith. Same thing with the Gospel music, the Mighty Clouds of Joy, Tye Tribbett and Kirk Franklin. There are many gospel bands and if you're really serious about learning, you need to know and research groups and older gospel songs.
What I wanted to hunt is that you should learn about all the touch or changes in the chords that is the hallmark of this category of music. You can easily add spice to the music if you know what made these songs. And you know what type they are. Another important thing you should be aware: Do worry if you met someone who plays better than you. Other people are often uncomfortable when they see other people who play a few techniques they can not do. You just take it positively, observing what they do and add it to your own skills. You will find many pianists still better than you, but as you continue to experience new things, you can always get improvements and will continue to be better.
Playing the piano is not to be the best. It is more how you express through the music you create. Each melody you'll need to create feelings. Like the songs of worship, all the praise you give to the Lord is evident in every note that you address. He is the best language when no words seem to come out during prayers. Expressing yourself is that every pianist should learn.
